How It All Started
Game Fight’s journey began in 2007 at ‘True Spirit,’ a thriving MMA gym in Leeds, under head coach and owner Mabsy Alam. Mabsy’s martial arts journey began in 1991, eventually leading him to MMA and JiuJitsu in the early 2000s. During a training trip to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, he trained at various academies, including Game Fight Rio de Janeiro, where head instructor Vinicius Amaral recognized Mabsy’s potential.
At the time a brown belt, Mabsy was awarded his black belt by Vinicius, who entrusted him to open the first Game Fight academy in the UK, with Leeds as its headquarters. Vinicius Amaral’s biography and lineage can be found here.
