Mabsy ‘Tiozinho’ Alam
Head Instructor
Mabsy Alam
Mabsy has been training in martial arts since 1989, however it started as a more casual exercise. After 1990 his approach to martial arts got more serious when he started kick-boxing, and then training Muay Thai in 1992. After 1993 and the introduction of the UFC, he was totally committed and included a number of martial arts and activities into his training roster. These included Muay Thai, Japanese JuJitsu and Aikido. In 1996 Mabsy started training catch wrestling. Here’s Mabsy’s main martials arts experience and achievements:
- 3rd Degree Black Belt in BJJ under Mestre Vinicius Amaral
- Reached highest rank of #17 in Master 5s in the World IBJJF tournaments
- 2017, IBJJF European Champion Master 5 at Middleweight
- 2019, IBJJF UK Masters 5 Champion Middleweight & Open Weight Champion
- Teacher to other BJJ instructors
- Conducts seminars
- Training martial arts since 1989
Mabsy first competed in ADCC in the year 2000. From here he started training in the kimono (gi) and competing whenever possible. Mabsy transitioned into MMA and competed in amateur fights and eventually professional fights. He continued Jiu jitsu and then opened his first martial arts school in 2000 called “True Spirit MMA”. He started again several times as a white belt, eventually blue, purple and brown. He was with no particular team as such but was far ahead of a lot of other BJJ practitioners at the time. Eventually, Mabsy ended up going to Brazil. This is where he started training with Mestre Vinicius Amaral. As he grew to know Vinicius, he had great affection and respect for him as they were both similar and there was a great connection. Due to Mabsy’s teaching and his ability on the mat, he was put through an old school Carlson Gracie style grading where his will and character were tested. He was honoured to become the 1st black belt under Mestre Vinicius Amaral for Game Fight in the UK.
